Barbados Celebrates 50Years Independence – Prince Harry Celebrates With Rihanna
It’s 50 years now since Barbados got independence from her England colonial masters and she is celebrating the freedom with her superstar singer, Rihanna.
The Prince of Britain, Prince Harry joined Bajan’s famous singer, Rihanna to celebrate the country’s Golden anniversary in Bridgetown, Barbados on Wednesday, 30th November, 2016.Barbados is a sovereign island country in the Lesser Antilles, America and well-known for her large production of Sugarcane in the world.
It was in 1966 that Barbados got her independence after over 300 years of salary under British rule and since then it has always been a great occasion for Barbados.
Apart from the date being on a Sunday, every 30th of November is always a national holiday for the people Barbados to commemorate the day they got their freedom.
Every independence day in Barbados normally comes with a whole lot of Bajan activities and events such as concerts, festivals, carnivals, gospel events, church services, sports events, fairs and other interesting activities.

In this year’s celebration, the singer, Rihanna, performed on the stage this afternoon. The Country’s prime minister, Fruendel Stuart, was with her during the concert and performance on stage.
Prince Harry of Britain joined the singer in the celebration as part of his two-weeks Carribbean tour around 6 countries. Barbados is the 6th country the Prince is visiting in the course of his tour.
He read a congratulatory message from the Queen of England. The message had an encouragement for country-men to stand the challenges that have ridden the country. Such challenges as weather changes, negative effect of technology on the job market and others.

Him (Harry) and Rihanna had met earlier at the the airport where they celebrated World AIDS day. They were tested for HIV at a HIV Clinic in Bridgetown.
The Prince encouraged men and women who have not been tested for the disease to do so.
Barbados Golden Anniversary was celebrated at Kensington Oval Cricket Ground in Bridgetown.
Prince Harry was honored by granting the permission to insert the gnomon which is a piece of the monument sundial. The sundial sticks out and casts a shadow showing the time.
