The above equipment are important tools in the laboratory. However, they are not limited to the ones above. Now, let’s see how you can calibrate your laboratory oven to a defined temperature.

How To Calibrate An Oven

Often times, the temperature reading on the temperature scale of your oven is not the same with the inside. The temperature of the inside is usually lower or higher than the reading. I want to show you how to adjust the temperature knob of the oven to fix things. Follow the steps below.

1. Define the temperature you want to set the oven at.

2. Check the temperature reading on the thermometer of the oven. If your oven’s thermometer is bad, replace a good one and take the reading.

3. Adjust the temperature knob of the oven either by reducing or increasing it depending on what you want.

4. Then, check the thermometer reading after 5 minutes. If it’s now at your desired temperature, allow it for 3o minutes to confirm. But if it is not, then adjust the knob again.

5. If the thermometer reading is steady at your desired temperature for 30 minutes, then you have successfully calibrated your oven.
