Messi And Ronaldo Top List Of 2016 FIFA Men’s Best Player Award
The Argentina superb striker and Barcelona Lord, Lionel Messi and his back-to-back Portuguese competitor and Real Madrid striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, are still at the top of the 23-men shortlist for 2016 FIFA most valuable player of the year.
The list was decided in a meeting held by the FIFA Football Committee for 2016 for the winner of the ‘best player’ of the year award.
The winner will be finally decided by votes cast by national team captains and players, selected media representatives and a global fan poll.
Meanwhile, before the end of the league, the list is subject to review by the committee.
Other players found in the list include; Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric, all from Real Madrid FC;
From Barcelona FC are the likes of Luis Suarez, Neymar and Andres Iniesta; From Leichester City are Rihad Mahrez, Ngolo Kante and Jamie Vardy.
Also in the list are Paul Pogba (Manchester United), Sergio Aguero (Manchester City), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid), Dimitri Payet (West Ham United).
Messi and Ronaldo has been winning this FIFA best player Award since 2008. Messi has won five times while Ronaldo has won thrice.
However, this time around, Ronaldo is likely to win because Portugal won European Championship and Real Madrid won UEFA Champions League.
