Steven Gerrard News Now │Formal Liverpool/England Legend Stops Play

The formal Liverpool and England historical player and legend, Steven George Gerrard, has announced his retirement from professional football after 19-years wonderful career experience in football.

A lot of people expected this retirement news from the great icon, he has played professional football for 19 years and id due for retirement.
He made this known on his Facebook page, he said, “following recent media speculation surrounding my future, I can confirm my retirement from playing professional football.”

Ex-captain Gerrard left Liverpool last two sessions for LA Galaxy under contract with the later club. He spent a session and half with the MLS side playing for LA Galaxy till now when his contract with them expired and he decided to hang up his boots.

Gerrard, 36 years, was born in Whiston, England, and he started playing for Liverpool when he was still a boy, 18 years ago. He played 114 matches for England, his home country and 710 games for Liverpool before his last deal with LA Galaxy.

The legend made his debut play with Liverpool in November 1998 against Blackburn Rovers and since then he has had wonderful experiences in the course of his career in Football.

He said on Instagram page, “I feel lucky to have experienced so many wonderful highlights over the course of my career. I feel very fortunate to have had the career I’ve had but none of it would have been possible without the support of so many people.”

The former Liverpool captain took time to thank his teammates and managers back then in Liverpool. He thanked the likes of Steve Heighway, Dave Shannon and Hugh McAuley.

“I would like to thank Struan Marshall, my agent throughout my career, and the team at Wasserman for all of their support over the past 18 years, he said.

He also thanked his wife, Alex and children Lily, Lexie and Lourdes, for their constant love and having believed in him throughout his career.
