Griezmann Joins C. Ronaldo & Messi In The List Of FIFA’s Best Player 2016 Award

France striker and Atletico Madrid star, Antoine Griezmann has joined Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in the recent list released for The FIFA’s Best Player 2016 Award.

The list was formally a short-list of 23 men for the best player of the year but has been reduced to three players after voting by national team captains and players, selected media representatives and a global fan poll.

Griezmann Joins C. Ronaldo & Messi In The List Of FIFA’s Best Player 2016 Award

After many screening processes, Griezmann is able to remain in the list because of his efforts that helped his Atletico Madrid to reach the Champions League finals although they lost to the Champions, Real Madrid. He is rated Euro 2016 top Scorer.

Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid is still at the top of the list followed by his Barcelona rival, Lionel Messi, then Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid.

The players have made big contributions in one way or the other to their teams this season to be able to come up in the FIFA’s list.

Cristiano Ronaldo recently scored his hat-trick (3goals) in their 3-0 win against Atletico Madrid and two goals in their 2-1 win against sporting Gijon which made the first in the year’s Calendar to score 30+ goals. See the News.

The Portuguese striker took his country’s national team as the captain to the international Euro 2016 major competition and defeated 2nd place France in the finals.

Although he did not play in the finals due to a major injury but he talked to his players from the sideline until they got their victory.

Ronaldo is a three time winner of Ballon d’Or (Ballon d’Or is an annual football association award presented to the world’s best men’s player). The last he won was in 2014.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has won Ballon d’Or Award for five times now, the fourth one was in 2010 before he did it again in 2015. However, this season is likely to leave it for his rival mate Ronaldo.

He took his country’s team to the finals of Copa America Centenario, but they did not win. However, he was the highest goal scorer during the cup.

He scored 41 goals altogether in the domestic league and cup double in 2015/2016 with Barcelona.

Lastly, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann was of an outstanding performance in this year’s soccer. He helped Atletico Madrid to come third in La Liga.

He helped his country to reach the final stage of the Euro 2016 as the top scorer of the tournament. Although his team didn’t later win in the match but he performed wonderfully well.

Meanwhile,  FIFA’s committee on this year’s Award have scheduled Jan. 7th, 2017 by 8:00AM PST as the D-Day for the Award.
